Speed=distance/time

  • Time=distance / Speed
  • Distance=(Speed x Time)
  • Formula to change Km/Hour to Meter/Second: (A km / Hour = Ax5/18 Meter / Second)
  • To cross a man of a pole, a train travels a distance equal to its length.
  • To cross a platform or an another train, the train travels a distance equal to its length and the length of the platform / another train.

Example 1. A person walks with a speed of 3 Km / Hour. How much distance will he walk in 3 hours’ time?

Answer: Distance = Speed X time = 3 X 3 = 9 Kilometers.

Example2. Ravi is cycling. He covers 12 Km distance in 3 Hrs. What is his speed?

Answer: Speed = Distance / Time = 12 / 3 = 4 Km / Hour

Example3. A child wants to reach his school which is 2 km away. If he walks with 1 Km / Hour speed, how much time will he take to reach his school?

Answer: Time = Distance / Speed = 2/1 = 2 Hours.

Example4.Ram is riding a bike and his speed is 54 Km / Hour. How much distance he will travel in 1 minute?

Answer: 900 Meters

(Hint: In this question first change speed from Km/Hour to Meter/Second)

Speed of the bike = 54 Km / Hour = 54X5/18 Meter / Second = 15 Meter / Second

1 minute = 60 second

Distance = Speed X Time = 15 X 60 = 900 Meter
